A classic Bordeaux-style red wine. Plum and fig, medium oak, textured and lush, beautifully balanced with lingering acidity. Vintage 2012. Box of twelve bottles. Accolades: 4 stars – Michael Cooper (2016).
This full red wine is brick-red in colour and true to the Bordeaux-style the French are famous for. The Cabernet Franc grapes make it an aromatic and powerful wine, with hints of fig, plum and spice. The fruit character is gentle, its silky tannins create a beautiful balance and texture. This wine is sturdily-constructed and has a life ahead of it. Can you resist to drink something so rich and luscious right now?
Awarded 4 stars by Michael Cooper:
“The 2012 vintage of this single-vineyard red is a blend of Merlot (70 per cent) and Cabernet Franc (30 per cent), grown on the Awhitu Peninsula, in South Auckland, and matured for a year in French and American oak barrels. Fullish and fairly youthful in colour, it is medium to full-bodied, in an elegant style with fine-grained tannins, good complexity, and very satisfying depth of fresh plum, spice, herb and nut flavours.” – Michael Cooper December 2016
